DO NOT KICK THE BUCKET UNTIL YOU ARE CALLED

After attaining the age of fifty-five, most people imagine that they are irrevocably committed to the path of decline. They have the impression that things are physically passing them by, that it is too late to undertake vigorous activities… that nothing will ever be the same as before.

This negative feeling is only the result of preconceived notions, which are reinforced in our society by the segregation between the generations. There are millions of men and women who think they are old when that preconception is only in their imagination.

Age Is A Matter Of The Mind: If You Do Not Mind, It Does Not Matter

The concept of youth or old age has very little to do with the number of years that have actually elapsed since our birth. It’s a matter of our mindset, the age of our ideas.

There are old men of thirty five and young people of seventy three!

Old age begins the day we think we are old. This is because we are nothing but what we think we are. So it is necessary to change the course of our thoughts to transform our lives. It must be realized that aging does not entail the end of development; rather it is the cessation of development which causes old age .

How can we avoid worrying about old age? By fully living every minute of our existence instead of unnecessarily deliberating over the past, or being apprehensive over what the future will bring.

Only the present counts , because only the present is reality.

The fear of death is responsible for many wasted lives.

Why worry?

The body inevitably disappears one day and we will all experience death. It is curious to note that we are afraid to leave the earth (darkness) to advance to full light.

A coward dies a thousand times before his death, but the valiant taste of death but once. It seems to me most strange that men should fear, seeing that death, a necessary end, will come when it will come.

William Shakespeare,Julius Caesar

Those who are spiritually enlightened aspire to this divine moment. It is the ignorant who fear the unknown.

It is very difficult, granted, for most individuals, not to see death as a cessation of life. Now this notion of separation is precisely at the root of all our torments about this ‘unknown’.

To understand that death can not be separated from life, we must admit, first of all, that evolution does not stop, life never stops. There is continuity in everything.

What we call death is only a change of state after transformation.

Nothing Dies, Everything Is Created And Recreated Every Moment – Lavoisier.

Why should man make an exception to this rule? Certainly our body disappears, but the spirit continues its unending existence, and our soul will rejoice on the day when it will escape from the envelope which stifles it (the physical body).

Death is not an end; it is the beginning of a new existence. Let us think of it in this way, and death will lose its gloomy apprehension and gloom.

In the meantime, let us make the most of our earthly existence by remaining young , and living our life to the fullest, every day, every second, until the appointed time.

Why be sad under the ineluctable reality that we are growing old? Sadness is hell in itself, and this door open to all evils.

Gaiety, on the other hand, is the flowering of being and the understanding of life. Let us stay gay (not the homosexual type!) and be a delight to everyone around us in our old age.

The best antidotes to old age are ebullient optimism and geriatric exuberance, which go hand in hand with the ability to love.

Music, as well as singing can be used in counteracting apathy and pessimism. What could be more beautifully sonorous and therapeutic than a mellifluous voice raised in appreciative praise ?

Raise your voice in gusty song and you will see life in another light.

Is there a direct relationship between age and disease! No. One may be ill at the age of seven, or twenty-five, or eighty.

The truth is that from a certain age most people are afraid of being sick , and that by dint of thinking they cannot avoid sickness, eventually become ill.

Florence Seriki (the OmaTek Ventures Amazon) just died at 54. People die at 30. at 12. Former President Obasanjo is still kicking vigorously at eighty years of age.

It is a known fact that thinking alone can make one sick, as well as give one sterling health.

The “disease” of old people with wrong thinking becomes their major concern, their reason for living. What’s saddler that these elderly people spending their time boring everyone withing earshot about their infirmities, whether perceived or imagines.

Don’t succumb to hypochondria!

Perpetually think life instead of disease. Maintain a cheery heart , and your physical body would follow suit.

That said, it can happen that you actually fall ill. This happens to anybody some time, irrespective of age. In that case, focus your mind on getting well. Most diseases are not a fatality and can be avoided by adopting to a healthy lifestyle, and a positive mindset.

Take care of your body. Eat well, sleep well, live right, think positive, avoid vitriol.

Your body is the only one you have.

It is the man who degrades his health by ignorance or contempt of the laws of nature that beckons to unnecessary ailments of the body .
