Nostalgia

We humans are often times too in a hurry to get from one point to another in our career or academics to bother about the little details, and its these little details in our journey through life that moulds us into what we are or come to be, it defines us and basically sums up the concept of living.

This piece attempts to take us from the present back a few decades to remind us of what we were as depicted by what we surrounded ourselves with i.e the realities of the time as it were. I am always of the premise that if you can remember where you are coming from you will appreciate the present and be better prepared for what the future brings.

Not once or twice I’ve been chanced to have a few drinks with friends and colleagues in lets call it a bar and from the speakers the music switches to an old school hit that suddenly pulls my mind from the present to some time in the past when this song was on everyone’s lips, my mind (and am sure yours too in such situation) plays images of what the scenery of that period was like and that broad smile brightens up my face and i go nodding to the beats.

Join me and get a glimpse, share with me pictures from visions on one of such nostalgic trips.

From house hold items to television series to music, we love the present but sometimes miss the past, or am I alone in this? What about the past do you miss most?

    Memories……
    I still remember that oak wood ornamented wall clock with swinging pendulum firmly placed on the wall in my father’s sitting room.

    And that pride we had when daddy bought the first black and white TV. First of its kind in the whole of our street. The door wide open and both adults and children crowding our palor in the evenings to watch.

    // Nostalgia | DeolaOnline – I am browsing [Nostalgia | DeolaOnline]. Have a look at it! http://deolaonline.com/?p=993//

    That article really stuck a nostalgic chord. Being from the older generation,I could relate to all the pictures posted there.

    That mission piece of a computer choosing over $5,000 is really amazing, as we were amazed when we got our first black and white tv in 1978, or so..

    I remember that ‘Another life’ television series that ran for over a year. When that series get aired (thrice a week,I think), the streets become empty..

    The way we have thrown away audio cassettes is probably the way we would throw away CD and DVD and those chunky hard disks.. one day, very soon…

    Much as I would have loved

    This is the first time I have successfully posted on this website.

    Sorry about the disjointed comment. It was a test post….
