IS A FRIEND IN NEED A BLOODY NUISANCE ?

It is said that the world loves a winner and that nothing succeeds like success

I have just heard this plaintive cry on Nairaland, and it struck a chord in my mind.:

Our company folded up and was closed down without payment of some months salary, let alone paying off. Since then it’s not been easy financially and otherwise while seriously looking for job.

What surprises me is some friends’ attitude since I became jobless. These are people when we were doing well in our office, we mingled together etc, but since the jobless saga started, many of them started dissociating themselves. They wont visit you as usual, they can’t even give you a call, most time when you call them, they won’t even pick your calls after seeing many missed calls from you on their phone but that wasn’t the case when things were okay.

Telling them about helping you in search of jobs seems like a disturbance, many of them you will forward your cv to, will simply ignore making efforts while claiming as if they are doing anything on it. You will be seeing yourself as an abandoned fellow. The story is endless.

I begin to ask, are these as a result of wrong friends or normal thing.

It does look like most people associate with you based on what they may benefit from that association with you, does it not?

Reuben Abati, a prominent spokesman to the the former President GoodLuck Ebele Jonathan also said similar in this post

The former Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation also experienced similar. After being relieved of his coveted post as the helmsman at NNPC, his next birthday was said to be devoid of the usual pomp and pageantry of the years when he held sway at NNPC. It used to be a deluge of visits upon visits, congratulatory messages on the pages of newspapers, etc.

Like the poster on Nairaland asked, is it just Human Nature that a toothache is more important to us than a thousand people being bombed in Maiduguri? Is it generally the case that it is rare for people to help out without an eye on what they stand to benefit (now, or in future)? It is noteworthy that most humans are suspicious when someone lends a major helping hand without a clear likelihood or possibility of our returning the favor in some way, some day.

How many of us would go out of our way to help people, just BECAUSE?

It is said that you can tell the SIZE of a man by how he treats those who can do nothing for him in return From the ubiquity of how we treat those we consider below / beneath us socially or financially, can we say that most humans are Liliputian in their cerebral processes? Heaven helps those who help themselves, so who helps those who help others?

Your thoughts.?

That’s what the world has become we give in anticipation of something bigger from the recipient, giving is seen as an investment. Most times weddings of the children of influencial pple comes out looking full of pomp and glamour but its curious to note that a large percent of the wedding cost has been taken by supposed friends and sponsors who would fight over themselves to be noticed so as to secure future favor.

Nice article let charity begin at home, after all 1 Corinth 13:1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

In layman’s english though i profess righteousness and speak in tongues, if i do not help those in need i am just a lousey noise maker.
