They are at it again. Yes, the phone smashers. In July this year, precisely on the 4th of July, we published an article on the drop tests involving the then three flagship phones viz the HTC One X, the Samsung Galaxy S 3, and the iPhone 4S [Performed by advicemedia.com in india – See Here]. Barely three months after our publication and few days after the commencement of the iPhone 5 sales worldwide, not less than 5 different videos came up on YouTube showing various degrees of torture this new overhyped phone has been subjected to. The popular one being the so called drop test. Yes many of the videos show, and understandably so, the comparison between iPhone 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S3. These being the current contenders for the number one spot in smartphone popularity and sales. The list of those who uploaded to YouTube is long and includes the following:
One of the videos is by AndroidAuthority and is brought to you below so that you can see for yourself.
What baffles me is that some guys would go on line at an Apple Store just because they wanted to buy an iPhone 5 for smashing on concrete floor.
By now, you will probably be thinking that these guys are either nuts or extreme Apple fans that would rather smash their phones to prove it is better than the plastic looking Samsung. We wouldn’t blame you for so thinking. Not with the current almost insane rivalry between the two giants.
But as all can see and we have come to expect this, the iPhone 5 came out almost unscratched. We can’t say that for its plastic rival. All the same, we here would rather pick a Galaxy S3 over an iPhone 5 any day. That’s a personal opinion though.
After watching these videos we keep asking ourselves: “If Samsung is known for its ability to copy to perfection, why haven’t they copied iPhone’s strong and rugged chassis?”
Here is another video. This one by iPodUplink showing iPhone 5’s strength and durability:
Have you anything to say about this?
