Most jobs are secured through the right contacts.

There is no longer job security, whether you are a professional, an employee, an executive or a manager.   Whether you want to progress within the company in which you work, take your career to the next level in your area of operation, it is essential that people know that you exist and know your unique talents.

Keep doing what you know how, and tell people what you do. Not blowing your trumpet loud and clear is like winking in darkness; you know what you are doing, but nobody else does.

If you are self-employed or business owner, it is important that your (potential) customers can find you easily, and know your services or products.

Visibility is key!

It is not what you know. It is who you know, and how you make use of who you know!.

Stay visible by having an optimized website for search engines, have presence on social media, advertise adhesively, participate in conferences, voice your opinion publicly on your areas of operation and beyond, etc. 

In addition to solidifying  your network of business relations, networking goes a step further than other means by giving your prospects a chance of assessing who you are under different environments. They are then better positioned to introduce you to a job, patronize your service / product or promote you free of charge – provided you made a good impression.

Note that every person you meet has the potential of linking you to everyone else he knows.  That is to say, everyone you encounter potentially represents your sales team – provided you made a good impression.

Networking is magical in the sense that you can never predict where it could lead. Information can flow in different directions, not always in the direction you anticipated. Little drops of water really do become mighty in the ocean of networking. 

Being armed with a recommendation especially by someone with credibility saves you lots of time in accomplishments, breaks down otherwise impenetrable barriers and increases the chances of success. This is just human nature at play.

If you want 1 year of prosperity, grow grains. If you want 10 years of prosperity, grow trees. If you want 100 years of prosperity, grow people.

If you think you are too busy to network, you may want to rethink and prioritize what is truly important and how your career or business would progress faster with the right network(ing). 

It’s about your name being mentioned by the right person at the right time for your life to levitate to a new higher level.
