Anger is one letter short of dAnger.
I once wrote about the Weightlessness Of Anger.
Now, let’s look at the dAnger of Anger.
Anger may may serve some useful purpose in some situations, but mostly, anger leads to insalubrious outcomes such as verbal / physical abuse.
Listed underneath are some dangers of anger:
DANGER TO THE HEALTH
People have been known to burst arteries in a fit of rage. By giving free rein to intense anger, you increase the chances of having health problems.
The impact of anger on your health is a matter of how this anger is expressed. The repercussions are an increase in stress levels, heartbeat rate and blood pressure. Over prolonged periods, these can have disastrous effects on your health.
DANGER TO YOURSELF AND OTHER ROAD USERS
Driving while angry impairs judgment and makes you a dangerous driver, putting lives in peril, of yourself, the passengers of the vehicle, and also other motorists.
DANGER TO SELF-ESTEEM
Often after a loss of self control, and succumbing to anger, we experience feelings of guilt, shame and remorse, especially when we realize that we reacted disproportinately.
DANGER TO RELATIONSHIPS
While angry, we often engage in verbal /physical violence. This can lead to a deterioration / breakdown in relationships.
Never speak while angry, is a common but difficult advice to follow, buy we should try to practise.
-You may not know all the facts.
-You may speak too quickly.
-You may say too much.
-You may use the truth as a club to hurt others.
-You may say something you regret later.
-You may hurt innocent bystanders.
-You may reveal your own weakness.
DANGER OF ANGER ON YOUR CHILDREN.
Children exposed to regular displays of anger are likely to grow up with that personality too. The effects can be destructive in the long run. This may get perpetuated on their own children, a vicious cycle!
DANGER OF ANGER ON WORK
Productivity suffers in the workplace when anger is not managed properly. Anger in the workplace can result in bad judgments, leading to bad decisions.
DANGER TO EFFECTIVE TIME UTILIZATION
We often see children throwing tantrums and raving for nothing.
They lose time and energy on something whose result can not be influence by their wailing. Some adults are not immune from this behavior. Each minute we spend in anger is a waste of valuable time, as (negative) anger is counterproductive.
The consequence of anger is that
we are so focused on the aggravating situation that we fail to live in the moment and instead dissipate man_energy.
There Are Better Outlets For Anger Expression That Are Not So Destructive – Like. Sports Such As Football, Boxing Or Wrestling.
Engaging In Martial Arts Is A Good Way To Develop Iron Control Over Anger, As This Is Part Of The Training.
Life is too short to waste time on inanities like anger. Yes, we all get angry, but sustained anger is pointless – there are better uses of that adrenaline. Once you feel yourself getting angry, quickly caution yourself. You could walk away from the aggravating situation (if possible), or simply make a conscious decision to NOT lose your cool.
